Retouching tasks include: creating a new left hand for the boy who’s sleeve had covered his limb in all of the original photography. Because there were no alternate shots of a hand, it was essentially painted in photoshop. Once the hand was retouched, miscellaneous water droplets from the splash were masked and duplicated, extending over the hand to enhance the reality.

The boy going swimming in the pool had his head retouched as well. The request was to have a smiling boy, wearing a swim cap, looking at his mother. The problem was the only alternate shot of a smiling boy with a cap, had him looking in the wrong direction. The solution was to flip the facial features, including the eyes, but the lighting and perspective was fixed through additional retouching.
